Beyond Koh Phangan: Taking a look at other popular destinations in Thailand.
Long Beach, one of Koh Phi Phi's most beautiful beaches. |
One such section is the 'After Haad Rin - Moving On' section, which features a brief round up of some of the most popular destinations that people head to after Koh Phangan. When writing the round up, I’ve tried to take into account the opinions and preferences of everyone I’ve met over the years in Thailand, and not just rely on my own opinion.
The descriptions for each destination are fairly brief, and only intended to give readers a very basic idea of what to expect. As an example, here's the entry for Koh Phi Phi...
Koh Phi Phi
There are plenty of things to do in Koh Phi Phi to keep you busy for a few days, such as diving or snorkelling, a hike up to the viewpoint (which offers a panoramic view of the island), a boat trip to Maya Bay (where the movie The Beach was filmed) or a walk or longtail boat ride to Long Beach, plus lively nightlife with the fire shows down the beach.
Maya Bay, a popular day trip for people staying on Koh Phi Phi. |
You can get a ferry/coach/ferry ticket from Koh Phangan to Koh Phi Phi, but be aware that the island has been known to completely fill up in peak season, so if you’re visiting during peak season it’s advisable to either book somewhere to stay in advance or arrive on one of the morning ferries. The best way to catch one of the morning ferries is to split the journey up from Koh Phangan with an overnight stay in Krabi.

Other destinations briefly featured in the Haad Rin Guide Book include Krabi, Railay Beach and Tonsai Beach, Ao Nang, Koh Tao, Koh Samui, Phuket and Bangkok, but once again the entries for each destination are very brief, and are only intended to give readers a very basic outline of what to expect.
